About - Pillows With Wings

Transforming lives through spiritual, physical, and emotional wellbeing.

Pillows with Wings is a faith-based, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that develops educational products and programs based on real-life experiences. Our goal is to deliver meaningful, actional content — from books and videos, to learning manuals and parent engagement programs — that promote spiritual, physical, and emotional wellbeing that can help transform lives.

It began with a book … (Click Here)

Our first endeavor was the book, My Pillow Has Wings. It’s a true story about the challenges and triumphs Karen Ellenbecker experienced while raising her young granddaughters, Taelor and Autumn. Written by Taelor and Karen, the book tells the story of how the simple gift of a “magic pillow” helped them both heal and inspired Taelor to build a relationship with God.

… which inspired the Empathy Program … (Click Here)

It was educators and psychologists who first envisioned using the book to teach children about empathy. They saw the necessity — and the opportunity: In our increasingly globalized world, there is a growing need for up-and-coming generations to understand how emotions impact everything from diversity and inclusivity to collaboration and problem solving. And so we partnered with those professionals, and others, to create 10 Lessons to Understanding Big Feelings, a 12 week program designed to bring the book’s empathy messages to the classroom.

… and opportunities for parent engagement

We also learned about another need — the need for more parent involvement in their child’s education. To help address this gap, we developed our parent engagement program called Connect, Nourish, Grow (CNG) which facilitates school activities that bring parents, students, and teachers together. CNG can provide support in a variety of ways. For instance, it can implement celebration events to augment our Empathy Program. Or we can help reduce the barriers to attending parent-teacher conferences by providing meals and student activities throughout the meetings.

“Our mission is to transform lives with purpose-driven educational products and programs.”
